In the Valleys of Iraq

                                              Valleys of Iraq

My heart throbbed,
Whimpered and ached,
As I went down the valleys,
Valleys  of  Iraq.

Mehrunisa had slept
Deserted, she wept
For she lost her brother
In a gunfire last night.

Closed her window
Tore down the boat
As I poured
Down the valleys
Valleys of Iraq.

Toads and frogs were mum
They were deceived a lot
Got elated with the thunder
Thunder of guns and bombs.

Did not utter a word
So was a lull,
As I entered
Into the valleys
Valleys of Iraq.

I met the shiyas
As well as sunnis
Being a droplet of rain
Poured on both
In the dark lonely valleys
Valleys of Iraq.
